Summer Vacation Plans

I love summertime. The kids are home from school and we’re able to get together and reconnect with some of our extended family. Plus, the kids get to explore the great outdoors and have a chance to really dive into some of their passions (like… soccer!).

Family Trip

SummerVacation3This year, we’ll again head out for our annual trip to Michigan. We’ll spend a week to 10 days hanging out with aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, in-laws and cousins. All 20 members of our extended family stay together in a five-bedroom house. There’s also a loft that sleeps many–usually all the kids plus Jeff and me. It gets a little crazy, but that’s part of the fun.family michigan workout

We always look forward to spending our days on the lake, boating, hiking, enjoying campfires, relaxing on the dock and just relishing in each other’s company. We may take a day trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes or visit Mackinac Island, something we’ve done in the past.

Having just one refrigerator and 20 mouths to feed makes it a challenge to plan meals and eat healthy! Limited space means that it is difficult to stock up on anything and there’s always someone making a run to the store for food, ice, milk, or what-have-you. It’s going to take some dedication, and planning, on my part to stay on track with my nutrition.

Staying active is far easier, with the cool temperatures and plenty of outdoor activities. I also look forward to using Beachbody on Demand, which will make doing my workouts much easier than in the past, because they are on my phone.

Kids’ Activities

Camp PictureSummer also means that Jeff and I won’t always have a full house. Our 9-year-old and 11-year-old will spend a month at overnight camp, Camp Marimeta and Camp Menominee, leaving only our youngest and oldest at home. And our oldest will be busy with soccer camp and other sports-related fun, like the Maccabi Games, a  Jewish Olympic-style athletic green-logo-800competition. Our youngest will stay busy with activities during the day, like day-camps and outings.

Beachbody Summit

July brings the annual Beachbody Summit. I’m excited and really looking forward to it. For four nights, more than 20,000 Beachbody coaches will gather in Nashville to work out, learn about how to grow our businesses, mingle with some of the celebrity trainers and receive valuable training. The summit is three times the size as last year’s (as of this writing) so it will be a little crazy! Watch out, Nashville!

What are your summer plans and how do you plan to stay active and on track during the summer months? It’s hard to do it alone, so pass along your ideas and last summer’s successes!
