You gotta love a workout that the whole family can do together! The workout programs from Tony Horton are near and dear to me as I got started on my fitness journey with Power 90. Now P90X3 is out and there is so much more to love for a busy mom.

For me personally, I like that you can start with P90X3 even if you haven’t done P90X or P90X2. However, if you have mastered those other workouts, the muscle acceleration system of P90X3 requires your body to constantly adapt meaning you still will get results! Each generation of P90 has improved and this one offers a ton of variety with 16 different workouts, something that was lacking in the original Power 90 workout program.

One of my favorite workouts (am I allowed  to say that since I really don’t like exercise?) is Isometrix. I got to do this workout live with Tony in September ’13 and it was exactly what I needed, and a bit of a humbling experience. My core was sore for 3 days (in a good way of course…). When Tony says “focus on the things that challenge you, that is how you get better,” he speaks the truth. This workout focuses on core strength, one of my weaknesses, and adds a dimension of instability to the mix. Definitely try it for yourself, I’d love to hear about your experience.

When I travel, I like to take the Warrior Workout with me because there is no equipment needed, yet you get a full body workout. As a soccer mom traveling with my kids during the year for tournaments or on vacation, I appreciate this workout. I also like that there is a pilates workout included. Whew! Talk about flexibility & core, definitely a challenge but I really enjoyed doing it.

And finally, the nutrition guide. The goal of the P90X3 nutrition guide is to get your body to learn what you need and when you need it. Not so easy when you are in mommy mode – but Tony has simplified this plan into blocks: 3 main meal blocks with 2 snacks. I love that Tony says, “your snack is there to spoil your appetite.” This means when you show up to a meal, you aren’t famished. PLUS, the caloric intake calculation is done with a simple quiz – you don’t need a college course in calculus to figure it out. I wound up with 1800 calorie a day to lose weight and the nutrition guide comes with a breakdown for how to breakdown your meals (carbs, fats, proteins).
